Kevin Munala and Saitabau Kumary were part of the students selected to showcase their final year design projects for the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) accreditation in 2019. CAA is a membership organisation for professional bodies representing architects in Commonwealth countries. Formed in 1965, it currently has 34 members. The Association is best known for its procedures for the validation of courses in architecture which convene international visiting boards to schools to assess courses against set criteria. This results in a list of qualifications recommended for recognition by members. (thecommonwealth.org, 2019).
The University of Nairobi Department of Architecture was evaluated which led to full accreditation of their programme. We are happy to have been a part of this process and commend the department for their constant drive to improve. The facility inspires through weekly talks, empowers through exhibitions while still educating through their two-tier degree programme just to mention a few.
Below is the work exhibited by Munala and Saita for their final year.
